The World’s Best Foods: Nuts, Seeds and Berries
This week, we’ll take a 5-post trip through my version of the best foods on the planet. Together, these superfoods can maximize the quantity and quality of life with almost no compromises regarding taste, practicality or budget.
We’ll kick off with my personal favorite: nuts, seeds and berries. These guys have already enjoyed some screen time in an earlier post about breakfast foods, but they deserve formal inclusion in this list.
What’s so great about nuts, seeds and berries
When enjoyed as a combo, these guys are every good thing a food can ever hope to be:
- Packed with a very broad range of nutrients
- Full of energy in the form of slow-releasing healthy fats and proteins
- Super tasty
- Super convenient
- Surprisingly cheap per calorie
As a breakfast food, I believe the combination of nuts, seeds and berries is simply unbeatable.
Tips and tricks
Here are a few hints for getting the most out of nuts, seeds and berries.
First, maximize the variety. Try to get your hands on as many different types of nuts, seeds and berries as is practically possible. It is often possible to buy already mixed packs of nuts or frozen berries.
Second, mix your nuts and seeds in a large container for maximum convenience. This mixing is also a very valuable deterrent when you have a big snacking drive like me.
Third, buy your seeds in bulk. This makes them a lot cheaper. Since they have a long shelf life an you will mix big batches with nuts anyway, there really is no reason not to do it.
Nuts, seeds and berries make one of those rare combos that are too perfect not to enjoy every day. I really hope they can become a permanent part of your life 🙂

Hehe… Vir my is dit snaaks genoeg nie regtig ‘n issue nie. Ek dink dis die redelike groot hoeveelheid flaxseed wat ek in my mengsels het wat dit moeilik maak om direk uit die bak te eet.
